Have you ever been really hungover in the grocery store, and just walked around with this blank look on your face as you’re trying to get through the morning? Do you ever do something similar on the subway to avoid catching some stranger’s awkward gaze?
I suspect this has something to do with the “NPC” meme among rightoids. They catch people with blank stares on their faces and assume they’re just “NPCs”, when the reality is that they’re engaging in extremely human — extremely simian, in fact — behavior.
There’s a famous experiment among Japanese spider monkeys where they put the monkeys in smaller and larger communities. The ones in the smaller communities looked each other in the face more often, were more social, and more engaged. But right around a colony size of ~100 monkeys, they started averting their gaze from each other, keeping their heads down, and avoiding direct contact.
This shit is hard-wired into the human psyche. Rightoids are just too big of morons to know what they’re looking at.
